BE BOLD

“Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.

2 Corinthians 3:12”

This summer I have had the privilege of being involved in camp work. Once as a camp speaker and this past week as camp director. We chose a theme some time ago for camp which I have used at both camps.

The theme is aimed to be thought provoking and challenging. “BE BOLD”

The context obviously is meant to stimulate thoughts that will encourage camper and workers alike to live a life of boldness in relation to God.

What does being bold look like to you? Does it mean in your face kind of attitude regarding faith and telling someone about Christ?

Read the verse above once again. In the Old Testament the access to God was often found through individuals who functioned as priests, prophets and even kings. When Christ came he represented a new covenant which because of His death, burial and resurrection we have access to God’s presence, anywhere and anytime. Ephesians 3:12 states “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in Him”.

As we combine these verses we understand as we live with hope for future days and eternity, the reality of knowing Christ gives us boldness, access and confidence through our faith in Him. When we know someone personally and intimately we have the courage to ask and say anything. The difference with God is that our relationship is based on His love towards us. The Bible says; “He first loved us”. When we understand His grace and mercy our lives are molded in a way that responds to that reality.

The result is clear, instead of being bold with arrogance, we are bold with meekness. That means; power under control. The Lord had this characteristic because of His intimacy with the Father. In the same way we can have that as we truly understand the Father’s heart.

Develop habits and characteristics that truly show the boldness of Christ through what you say and do. Christ will be honored and your hope and faith will be built.
