TRUTH
Then
Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a
king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the
world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.
Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”John 18:37-38
What is truth?
Well, you don’t have to consume much media these days to realize that everyone
is searching for their version of the truth. At the same time, social media
indicates that everyone already knows the truth—and they’re not afraid to tell
you.
Some
people consider truth to be what you make it, or whatever works and is
convenient at the moment.
A
growing number of people consider truth to be that which science has proven
over the years.
And in
our current political climate, many people think that truth is oppressive and
should be resisted and silenced.
But truth is
not an abstract concept. It is not a philosophy. It is not something we can
prove or disprove. And it is certainly not something that will be
silenced. Truth is the very nature of God himself
and is reflected in his perfect and unchanging Word.
And
Jesus is this same truth in human form. InJohn 14:6,
Jesus says to Thomas, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through me.”
When
Jesus was on trial, Pilate failed to recognize the truth of Jesus. For us,
failing to recognize this same truth is tragic. But it’s even more tragic when
we do recognize it and choose to ignore it.
Jesus
provides the only path to God and his promise for your eternal salvation. Today,
put your trust in Jesus and let him guide you to the Father.
